1/2 cup lukewarm (105 degrees F) water
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 cups whole milk, warmed (about 105 degrees F)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
directions
The night before, or at least 8 hours before baking, combine the warm water, granulated sugar and yeast. Let stand 10 minutes, until foamy. Stir in the warm milk, melted butter and salt. Beat in the flour until smooth; (this may be done using a hand mixer on low speed).
Wrap bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let stand overnight (or for 8 hours) on the counter top - do not refrigerate.
When ready to bake, preheat your Waring Pro Belgium Waffle Maker on setting # 4 or preferred setting; (green indicator light will be illuminated when preheated)
For best results, do not open waffle maker during cooking process. Doing so will offset the timing mechanism.
While the waffle maker is heating, stir the eggs, vanilla extract and baking soda into the batter. Use measuring scoop to measure out batter. Pour onto waffle grids. Use a heat-proof spatula to spread the batter evenly over the grids. Close cover and rotate 180 degrees to the right.
Bake in the hot waffle maker until beeper sounds. Rotate 180 degrees to the left. Remove waffle and repeat with remaining batter. Waffles may be kept warm in a slow (200 degrees F) oven. Place waffles arranged on a cookie sheet on a rack in the oven. Serve with sliced fresh fruit, jam, powder sugar, a warm fruit syrup, yogurt, or whipped cream.

I was scouring the net trying to find the recipe for my Waring Belgium Waffle Maker with no luck. Well, I finally found my owners manual and thought I'd share this recipe with everyone.
This makes a nice light tasty waffle without that funny raw taste and stick in your throat texture I get with other recipes.
Most of the mixing for these waffles is done the night before. In the morning, just mix in the eggs, vanilla extract and a pinch of baking soda while the waffle make is heating. Leftover batter may be covered and kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Heat your waffle maker in the morning, stir the batter and have a freshly baked waffle for breakfast.

December 23, 2017Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I have also lost my book that came with my waffle maker and love this simple recipe. Lately, I have been making Liege waffles when i have lots of time and for special occasions. They are the authentic ones with Belgian pearl sugar. These are so amazing, but take forever to prepare. This recipe is yummy and takes a fraction of the time to make.

November 17, 2008A friend of mine at work gave me a Waring Pro Belgium Waffle maker yesterday. I couldn't wait to come home and find a recipe that would work well. I must say, this recipe was not only easy to follow, but absolutely perfect to make!! They were restaurant delicious!! I read some of the comments from other members, I think I know what may have happened to their recipe. It is VERY important to wait the required time first with the yeast(10 min) and then when setting the batter overnight. If this isn't done, I imagine the recipe will fail. My waffles were not only light and crisp, but very tasty!!I would recommend this recipe to anyone that has the patients to wait for a WAFFLE!!

My father-in-law and I make these waffles every Sunday at the cottage for our family and everyone loves them! November 26, 2007These waffles are wonderful--very crispy and delicious. Everyone in my family loves them. For those who think they are too yeasty, go ahead and reduce the yeast but remember yeast is a living organism so it's not just how much you put in but how long you let it sit. The longer it sits, the more the yeast multiply. However, I don't understand what "too yeasty" means because with all yeasted foods and especially bread, the yeast gives a great flavor and the goal is to slow the rising and enhance the taste of the final product. The alcoholic smell in the batter in the morning is an example of just that.By the way, I recommend instant yeast because you can substitute 1 for 1 with active dry, but with instant yeast there is no need to proof it. You can just combine all ingredients at once.
