Why is POLYWOOD so expensive? ›

Polywood is expensive mainly because HDPE is a dense, high-quality plastic. Also, Polywood furniture is made in a fashion similar to wood furniture - it's made of poly lumber held together with metal bolts and screws. It's not like cheap, one-piece plastic furniture made from a mold.

Is Trex® Outdoor Furniture™ made from Trex decking? The majority of Trex Outdoor Furniture is built using POLYWOOD® lumber.

Yes, our all-weather material is built to withstand all four seasons and a range of climates including hot sun, snowy winters, salt spray, and heavy winds. However, covering your furniture will make seasonal cleaning easier while also prolonging the life of your furniture.

Poly lumber is virtually maintenance-free and does not rot, rust, splinter, crack, or wear down. It withstands high and low temperatures without breakdown, making it a great outdoor furniture choice for any climate. Can it be sanded? Although minor scratches can be addressed with a light sanding, POLYWOOD™ cannot be completely resurfaced using sandpaper.

Light sanding can be used to buff some minor scratches on the furniture pieces because Polywood is a pre-mixed material with similar texture and color throughout. Since the outermost surface will be smooth and take on a patina over time, there may be slight color or texture differences when this is done.

Can you use a magic eraser on POLYWOOD? ›

Clean Magic Erasers work well on polywood, particularly if your furniture is white. To use it make sure the surface is clean and dry. Then allow it to work for a few minutes and then use a cloth to clean the area.

Not very. Poly will not absorb as much heat as wood and will not reflect it like metal, so it remains significantly cooler in the sun. Poly has been used for playground slides, where it remains cool to the touch and doesn't splinter or burr.

For deep cleaning, prepare a solution consisting of one-thirds bleach and two-thirds water. Then clean using a brush with soft bristles to reach tight spaces and a cloth for overall. This will not alter the color and the Polywood chairs and tables will shine even brighter. You can also use a power washer.
